New York Red Bulls News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - The New York Red Bulls have signed New York Red Bulls II defenders Davi Alexandre and O'Vonte Mullings and midfielder Amos Shapiro-Thompson to short-term loans, the club announced today.
The players will be available for the Red Bulls' MLS regular season match against Toronto FC tonight at BMO Field. The contest will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and New York Red Bulls Radio in English via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app, and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
Alexandre, 16, had been with Red Bulls Academy for three years previous to signing an MLS NEXT Pro contract with New York Red Bulls II in April of this year. He has competed in multiple competitions for the Academy, including the MLS NEXT and GA Cups. The 16-year-old made his professional debut with New York Red Bulls II on August 3, 2022, becoming the fourth-youngest player to appear in a match in club history. Alexandre has played in eight matches, starting four, and logging 358 minutes during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Mullings, 22, is currently in his second season with New York Red Bulls II after being drafted 20th overall in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft. The defender has logged over 3,000 minutes in 38 appearances for the team, scoring a goal and tallying five assists over that time. The Florida Gulf Coast product won ASUN Player of the Year in 2021 and was a unanimous ASUN First Team selection in 2019.
Shapiro-Thompson, 23, made his first team debut against D.C. United in the Round of 32 of U.S. Open Cup last week. The midfielder has logged 570 minutes this season and leads the team in shots up to this point. The Boston College product was drafted in the third round of the 2023 MLS SuperDraft by the New York Red Bulls.
Following tonight's match, New York returns home to Red Bull Arena to face off against CF Montreal on Saturday, May 20. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and New York Red Bulls Radio in English via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app, and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
