Red Bull New York News Release
FRISCO, TEXAS (May 4, 2014) - The New York Red Bulls won their third game in four tries and extended their unbeaten streak to four (3-0-1) when they earned their first road victory of 2014 and defeated FC Dallas 1-0 at Toyota Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Playing under hot conditions that topped over 90 degrees, reigning MLS Player of the Week Bradley Wright-Phillips recorded his fifth goal in three games while New York captain Thierry Henry had the primary assist on the match's lone tally in his 100th regular season MLS game.
New York goalkeeper Luis Robles stopped a second half penalty kick and notched the clean sheet, as the Red Bulls moved into a tie for first place in the Eastern Conference with 14 points (3-2-5 record) with the New England Revolution (4-3-2) and Sporting Kansas City (4-2-2).
Tickets are on sale now for the Red Bulls' next game against the Chicago Fire on Saturday, May 10 at 7:00 PM by calling 1.877.727.6223 or logging onto tickets.newyorkredbulls.com.
RECAP/BOX SCORE
The Red Bulls went up a man in the 10th minute after FC Dallas midfielder Je-Vaughn Watson was given a straight red card for a high boot on New York's Tim Cahill. Eight minutes later, Red Bull Eric Alexander looked to take advantage, firing a Roy Miller through ball on target and forcing goalkeeper Raul Fernandez to make the save. Soon after, Cahill's low free kick from 23 yards out beat Fernandez but skipped just past the left post.
In the second half, Robles, who has been one of New York's top players this season, came up trumps for the visitors after FC Dallas earned a penalty kick when Cahill fouled Danny Garcia in the box. Robles guessed correctly on Blas Perez's attempt and parried the FC Dallas forward's shot over the bar in the 59th minute.
New York would score the game's only goal 19 minutes from full time. Dax McCarty played Henry down the right channel and Henry was able to get into the box and cross it to Wright-Phillips, who put it home for his team-leading sixth goal of the year.
