Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release

CARSON, Calif. - Chivas USA fell, 4-1, to the Houston Dynamo in an interconference match Saturday night at the StubHub Center. The Red-and-White opened up the scoring on forward Erick "Cubo" Torres' seventh goal of the season. The visiting side responded with four unanswered goals, including two from Niles Barnes to secure the road victory. Brad Davis and Will Bruin also got on the scoresheet for Houston.

The Red-and-White got on the board first after Carlos Alvarez was taken down on the left side of the box while trying to follow up an attempted chip pass that was not cleared by Houston's defense. As Alvarez gathered the loose ball, the midfielder was brought down from behind by Davis. The foul set up Torres to line up in the seventh minute and calmly place his penalty shot past Tally Hall's left as the goalkeeper anticipated wrong.

The Dynamo answered back five minutes later with Davis' equalizer. Forward Will Bruin flicked a pass to Davis inside the edge of the 18-yard box that was touched by Chivas' defense. Davis took control of the ball and created space for himself to find the inside of the right post to level the match at 1-1.

Houston added two more scores to take a 3-1 lead that started with Barnes' right-footed strike in the 32nd minute from behind the arc after receiving a pass from Boniek Garcia with space along the left seam in the attacking third to get into position. Bruin then tallied his goal in stoppage time when he collected a pass from the left side from Corey Ashe. With his back to goal, Bruin brought down the entry, turned and fired inside the left post to send the match into the break.

Looking to spark a comeback, Chivas brought on a pair of subs to start the second half in forward Luke Moore and midfielder Martin Rivero . The adjustments produced promising looks early in the half as Leandro Barrera linked up with Moore in the 51st minute with his cross from the left side, but the striker's header was secured by Hall to turn away the threat.

The visitors would go on to extend the lead to 4-1 in the 69th minute on Barnes' penalty shot inside the right post past Trevor Spangenberg . The rookie netminder was brought on in relief of starter Tim Melia after he was shown a straight red card for taking down Bruin inside the box.

Chivas USA will now face back-to-back conference road matches beginning Sunday, May 11, against the Colorado Rapids. The match will mark the first meeting in the three-game season series and will be televised on UniMas starting at noon (PT). Radio listeners can also catch the action live on ESPN Deportes Radio KWKU 1220 AM. For more information visit cdchivasusa.com and follow the club on Twitter and Facebook.
