New York Red Bulls II News Release
HARRISON, N.J. (April 16, 2016) - New York Red Bulls II has signed 18-year-old midfielder Zoumana Simpara, the club announced today.
Simpara, a native of Bamako, Mali, last played for AS Bakary-Djan of the Malian Premiere League.
"Zoumana is a good soccer player - he connects well with other players, he's young and I see a lot of potential in him," head coach John Wolyniec said. "His combination of determination, hard work and talent is what Red Bulls II is about and he fits that profile very well. He's a young guy, so we have to have some patience with him, but he's done some really good things so far and I'm excited to see how far he can take it."
The Malian youth international was a member of the 2015 Mali U-17 World Cup squad, which finished in second place in Chile. The midfielder played in two Group Stage games as a substitute against Belgium and Honduras.
Simpara is the eleventh player signed to a USL contract on the Red Bulls II roster, and the club's sixth signing of 2016.
