New York Red Bulls Defender John Tolkin Named to U.S. Men's Olympic National Team for November Friendlies

HARRISON, N.J. - New York Red Bulls defender John Tolkin has been called up to the U.S. Men's Olympic National Team for their upcoming camp, U.S. soccer announced today.

This will mark the fourth time this season that Tolkin has been called for international duty, including two times for the United States Men's Senior National Team. Tolkin will be in camp with the Olympic Team in San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain as they prepare for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Tolkin, 21, just completed his fourth season with the Red Bulls, where he has made 27 MLS appearances this season and recorded three goals and six assists. Across all competitions, Tolkin scored four goals and tallied 10 assists, which is the most assists in a single season by a defender in franchise history. He was named No. 6 overall in the 2023 MLS 22 Under 22 List and was named to first-career MLS All-Star roster this year. Tolkin became the second homegrown in franchise history to be named to the MLS All-Star roster.

Tolkin and the U.S. Men's Olympic squad will play two matches during the training camp. First, they will face Iraq on Saturday, November 18 and then finish up with a match against Morocco on Tuesday, November 21. Both matches will take place at Pinatar Arena.

The Chatham, NJ native has made 14 career appearances for the United States at various age levels, this includes three senior team caps, all of which have come in this calendar year. He made his first career senior cap on January 28 against Colombia and made two appearances at the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
