HARRISON, N.J. - The New York Red Bulls and Denis Hamlett have decided to mutually part ways.
"On behalf of the club, we would like to thank Denis for his many contributions to the club since 2015, both as Sporting Director and Assistant Coach," said Jochen Schneider, Head of Sport, New York Red Bulls. "It has been an honor to work closely with Denis on all sporting matters pertaining to the club. His insights and perspective were always important when making key decisions for the success of the organization. We wish Denis and his family all the best."
Hamlett spent seven seasons as Sporting Director, helping the New York Red Bulls to seven consecutive Playoff appearances, both an Eastern Conference Final appearance and a Supporters' Shield in 2018 and a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final in 2017. As an Assistant Coach, Hamlett was a member of the 2015 team that won a Supporters' Shield and advanced to the Eastern Conference Final.
"My family and I would like to thank the Red Bulls organization and the fans for the nine years I have been with the club," said Hamlett. "I am proud of the fact that the team made the playoffs every year during my tenure. I wish the organization, the fans, and the players all the best going forward."
The New York Red Bulls will begin an extensive search for a new Sporting Director.
