New York Liberty center Ann Wauters Out with Stress Fracture

New York, NY- July 8, 2004 - New York Liberty center Ann Wauters will miss 6-8 weeks due to a stress fracture in her right foot navicular bone, Liberty Senior Vice President & General Manager Carol Blazejowski announced today.

The 6-4 fourth year player was averaging 6.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 20.8 minutes per contest.

In the midst of a five-game homestand, the Liberty play host to New York native Chamique Holdsclaw and the Washington Mystics tonight at 8:00 p.m., broadcast live on ESPN2. The Liberty return to action on Sunday, July 11 at 2:00 p.m. with a matchup against the WNBA's 2004 top draft pick Diana Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury, also broadcast live on ESPN2.

The New York Liberty basketball team, in its eighth year of operation with the 2004 season, is part of the Madison Square Garden, L.P. Cablevision Systems Corporation owns a controlling interest in the MSG L.P., which also include the New York Knicks (NBA), the New York Rangers (NHL), the Hartford Wolfpack (American Hockey League), the MSG Network, Fox Sports New York and the Madison Square Garden arena complex, located in the heart of the New York metropolitan area.
