November 30, 2022 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA)
New York Liberty News Release
NEW YORK - The New York Liberty announced its 2023 regular season schedule, a 40-game slate, which marks the most games to date in both the Liberty's and WNBA's 27-year history.
New York will open the season on the road against the Washington Mystics on Friday, May 19, followed by its home opener on Sunday, May 21 against the Indiana Fever.
Continuing its long-standing commitment to uplifting women, the team announced their schedule in a video campaign that features four Black women-owned businesses who are a part of The Social Justice Fund's Brooklyn EXCELerate program.
Brooklyn EXCELerate is a character-based loan program that supports Brooklyn's BIPOC business owners following the pandemic and drives equitable economic momentum in Brooklyn. The Social Justice Fund, led by Liberty governor Clara Wu Tsai, focuses on racial justice and the economic recovery of Brooklyn in the post-Covid era.
The schedule release video, narrated by New York center Stefanie Dolson, features the following four Black women-owned businesses throughout the borough of Brooklyn:
Donna Prescott Beauty
Jones Family Touch Day Care
The Amulet Fairy
Therapy Wine Bar 2.0
For the second consecutive season, the Liberty's schedule release amplifies the women who move the New York community. Last year, the team announced its schedule through a series of custom nail art in collaboration with artist and owner Candice Idehen of Bed of Nails.
Last season, the Liberty also hosted its first Black Women-Owned Business Expo at Barclays Center in partnership with April Walker during its sixth annual UNITY Game on July 31. Additionally, the team continues to spotlight women making a difference in the community through its #ShineLoudSunday digital feature series in partnership with Empire BlueCross BlueShield.
AT&T WNBA All-Star 2023, the 19th All-Star Game in league history, will be played on Saturday, July 15, and the Commissioner's Cup Championship presented by Coinbase will take place on Tuesday, August 15. More information about AT&T WNBA All-Star and the Commissioner's Cup presented by Coinbase will be forthcoming from the WNBA.
2023 Liberty season tickets and three-game holiday plans are on-sale now at liberty.wnba.com/tickets. The team will announce single game ticket availability in the coming months.
