
New York Falls to New England Revolution, 3-2, at Gillette Stadium

The New York Red Bulls (4-5-0, 12 points) suffered their second loss to the New England Revolution this season (7-1-2, 23 points), 3-2, on Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium.
New England opened the scoring in the 26th minute, when midfielder Carles Gil chipped a ball pass the New York backline and forward Tajon Buchanan received the ball and scored.
The Revolution won possession of the ball and Gil released defender DeJuan Jones down the sideline, who cut in and doubled New England's lead in the 32nd minute.
Early in the second half, Gil sent a long through ball over the top of New York's backline and Gustavo Bou placed the ball in the back of the net in the 51st minute.
Two minutes later, defender John Tolkin played on a long ball to forward Fábio, who chested it down for Patryk Klimala, who then hit it home to put New York within two, 3-1.
In the 75th minute, Tom Edwards played in a corner that fell down in the box after two failed shots, defender Andrés Reyes hit a right-footed shot that found the bottom corner to decrease the Red Bulls deficit to one, 3-2.
Klimala scored his first career MLS goal and has recorded a goal or an assist in three-straight matches.
Fábio tallied his fifth assist of the season, which is tied for second in MLS.
Tolkin earned his third consecutive start and recorded his first MLS assist.
Reyes scored his second goal of the year. This was his second goal against the New England Revolution this season, after scoring his first MLS goal against them on May 22.
Captain Sean Davis played his 147th career MLS match, moving into sole possession of sixth place all-time in franchise history in matches played passing Carlos Mendes.
Dru Yearwood made his first start of the season after making eight starts in 2020.
Jason Pendant substituted into the match in the 81st minute, making his first appearance of the season after playing in 20 matches last season.
Following Wednesday's match, New York will continue their road trip at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday, June 27 to face off against Atlanta United FC.
