With 21 points through the first nine games of the season - a club record in the MLS era - first-place Sounders FC (6-0-3, 21 points) hosts Western Conference rival Real Salt Lake (3-1-3, 12 points) on Wednesday evening at Lumen Field (7:00 p.m. PT / JOEtv, Prime Video, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). Seattle is the 10th team in MLS history to start a season with at least nine games unbeaten.

Seattle's Raúl Ruidíaz's scored his seventh goal of the season in Saturday's road win in LA, level with the Galaxy's Javier Hernández for the lead for the MLS Golden Boot. João Paulo recorded his fifth assist of the season, good for second in MLS.

The two sides have met 33 times in MLS play (including postseason), with Seattle leading that series 14-13-6. RSL has the slight edge in the regular season at 12-11-5, but Seattle is 3-1-1 against the Claret & Cobalt in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.

All four goals conceded by Sounders FC in 2021 have come from set pieces (two by direct free kicks, two via penalty kick). The Rave Green are the only team in the league yet to concede a goal through open play this season, leading MLS with a 0.44 goals against average and tied for first with five shutouts (Philadelphia).
