
New York City FC Sign Pablo Alvarez Nunez

New York - New York City FC have signed Pablo Alvarez Nunez on a free transfer. Alvarez spent the pre-season training with New York City FC playing in the midfield in their friendlies.
A 34 year old native of Spain, Alvarez is a veteran midfielder, known for playing on the wing, but can also play in a central midfield role. New York City FC will be his first Club outside of Spain. Most recently he played for Langreo. He also spent five years playing for Sporting Gijon, where he scored 25 goals in 160 appearances.
Speaking to NYCFC.com Alvarez said:
"I couldn't be happier about officially signing with New York City FC ahead of our historic inaugural season. I have trained hard with the team over the preseason, and will continue to work hard to give this team everything I can. I am particularly excited to play in front of our fans at the iconic Yankee Stadium."
Head Coach Jason Kreis spoke to NYCFC.com saying:
"Pablo has integrated well with the squad over the course of the preseason. His experience will add an important veteran presence to the team both on and off the field. We have worked hard to build a team with a balance of youth and experience and that should serve us well as we head into the season."

Bio: Played for Sporting Gijon B (1998-2001), Sporting Gijon (2001-06), Deportivo La Coruna (2006-12), Lugo (2012-14) and UP Langreo (2014-15). Had loan with Racing Santander (2008). Made his professional debut on May 19, 2001. Played three matches for Galicia national team. Teammates with David Villa at Sporting Gijon.
