
New River Riders Shine in 10-0 Victory over the Axmen

ELIZABETHTON, TN - The River Riders defeated the Kingsport Axmen 10-0 Sunday evening in Elizabethton at Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark. This is the third shutout by River Rider pitchers this season.
Elizabethton (24-20) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first when first baseman Eli Young doubled to score centerfielder Logan Sanders from third. Catcher Deric Graham scored second baseman Jonathan Soto and Young on a single.
The River Riders expanded on their lead and sent nine to the plate in the bottom of the second. Designated hitter Augustus Fraley scored on a balk by Kingsport pitcher Justin Kenyon. Young brought home Sanders and shortstop Marcus Brown on his second double of the game. Third baseman Reagan Guthrie singled to bring Young home, 7-0 Elizabethton.
E-Town starting RHP Brian Williams pitched three innings, struck out none, and gave up two walks and hits without allowing a run.
The River Riders scored three in the bottom of the fifth. Right fielder Chancery Hall scored on an error. Fraley scored on a sacrifice fly by Brown. Left fielder Logan Estep scored on an RBI single by Soto.
Including Williams, four River Rider pitchers made their debut for Elizabethton tonight. Right-handed pitchers: Grady Cash, Bodi Baker, and Ben Scott combined for two walks, hits, and strikeouts without allowing a run. RHP Chase Lorg finished the game in the seventh, giving up two hits and striking out one.
Elizabethton will look to win the season series against Kingsport tomorrow at Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark. Monday is Dollar Monday at NCCU Ballpark!
