Kingsport Axmen News Release
ELIZABETHTON, TN - The Kingsport Axmen learned Sunday that all good things must come to an end.
The Axmen fell to the Elizabethton River Riders, 10-0, snapping Kingsport's three-game win streak.
After sweeping the Bristol State Liners at home, Northeast Community Credit Union Ballpark didn't treat the Axmen (4-11) kindly.
Elizabethton (24-20) jumped ahead early and never looked back. The River Riders scored seven runs across the first two innings before adding three more in the fifth.
Right-handed relievers Trestyn DuMilieu and Andrew Miller steadied the waters. DuMilieu and Miller
combined to pitch 4 1/3 innings without allowing an earned run.
Kingsport notched just six hits in the loss, including four in the final two frames.
The Axmen look to split the series against the River Riders Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
