New Mexico United's Chief Revenue Officer Takes Position as President of Rio Grande Valley FC
January 23, 2020 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
New Mexico United News Release
Albuquerque, NM - Ron Patel, Chief Revenue Officer at New Mexico United, announced today that he will be leaving the team after accepting an offer with Rio Grande Valley FC, a USL Championship team based in Edinburg, Texas.
Having met Peter Trevisani in early 2017, Patel was the first employee on board, long before the soccer team had a name, colors, coaching staff or any players - just a vision. During his tenure, he successfully created and led New Mexico United's Sales & Partnership team. In turn, Patel and his employees were instrumental in thousands of tickets being sold during the team's inaugural season, earning New Mexico United the Highest Attendance Award for the USL Championship 2019 season.
"Ron Patel has been a part of New Mexico United since day one. You couldn't ask for a better teammate and partner. I learned so much from Ron. He always brought a smile to work and his passion for people and our community is unmatched," said Peter Trevisani, Majority Owner and CEO of New Mexico United. "He has earned this opportunity to lead Rio Grande Valley and they are getting one of the best in any league. You can't replace a Ron Patel. He will forever be a part of New Mexico United."
In addition to record-breaking ticket sales, Patel is a well-known member of the Albuquerque business community and proudly cultivated relationships with countless local businesses resulting in partnerships for the new soccer team. Thanks to the foundation laid by Patel in the team's formative years, these partnerships are expected to prosper in the capable hands of United's Sales & Partnership team.
"Growing New Mexico United with this incredible team of people has been the thrill of a lifetime. I will miss all the staff, players & coaches, fans, partners and the entire soccer community," said Ron Patel. "New Mexico United is, and will continue to be, a fixture in this state and I will always be proud of that. Thank you, New Mexico!"
Patel will officially leave the team at the end of January. At this time, New Mexico United is privately seeking candidates to fill this role.
