New Mexico United News Release

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - New Mexico United's training amped up in recent weeks in preparation for the upcoming regular season. A new face will join the black & yellow in 2020, Andrew Tinari, midfielder, pending league and federation approval.

Tinari is officially the 22nd rostered player for 2020. Prior 2020 roster announcements from New Mexico United included 15 returning players from the inaugural season, plus the additions of defender Kalen Ryden and David Najem, goalkeeper Philipp Beigl, and forwards Amando Moreno, Romeo Parkes, and Samson Sergi.

Hailing from West Islip, New York, Tinari spent his college career with Columbia University from 2013-2016, where he made 62 total appearances (55 starts), scored 9 goals and notched 10 assists. He was named Ivy League Rookie of The Year and to the First Team All-Ivy League three times.

"Andrew will add a different dimension to our midfield. He has an exceptional ability of being able to control the rhythm and tempo of a match," said Head Coach Troy Lesesne. "He knows when to slow down the pace, but more importantly knows when to break lines and go forward with a purpose. We've very excited to have him in black & yellow this season."

In 2014, Tinari appeared for USL League Two side Jersey Express, before beginning his professional career with New York Red Bulls II, making 62 appearances (53 starts), 9 goals and six assists across 2017-2018.

"I'm so grateful and excited to be a part of this state and club. Now it's time to get to work," said Tinari.

Tinari spent last season with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, making 22 appearances, 18 starts, 5 goals and 5 assists.
