New York Boulders News Release
The Boulders (20-25) opened their final series before the All-Star Break with an 8-5 loss to the Jackals (25-20) on Friday night. In his second appearance as a Boulder, Jon Schreier came on in relief and faced the minimum in 2.1 innings and struck out three batters.
After giving up three runs in the top of the first, Rockland responded in the bottom half of the inning thanks to Matt Oberste's RBI double. The designated hitter recorded his 14th RBI of the season.
New Jersey regained a three-run cushion in the top of the third inning on Alfredo Marte's solo home run. The Jackals tacked on three runs in the fourth inning and one run in the seventh.
Ryne Birk polished off a three-hit performance by driving in two runners on an eight-inning double. In the same frame, Blake Grant-Parks plated two more runs on a double to right field.
The three-game set continues at Palisades Credit Union Park on Saturday as the Boulders celebrate Gaelic Night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30, but gates open at 4:30 for a pre-game performance by The Narrowbacks. Make sure to stay in the ballpark following the game for a fireworks extravaganza.
