New Jersey Drops Second Straight One Run Game

The New Jersey Jackals dropped another tight game 2-1 on Friday night, this time to the Quebec Capitales at Stade Canac in Quebec City.

Yasmani Hernandez toed the rubber and was quality for the Jackals.

Hernandez allowed one earned run over six innings on seven hits. He walked five batters as well.

One of the walks came back to haunt Hernandez in the bottom of the fourth.

With catcher Adam Ehrlich batting with the bases loaded, Hernandez lost him on a full count to bring in TJ White.

Short stop Carlos Triunfel hit his second home run in three games and his fifth of the season with a solo blast in the top of the fifth to tie the game at one.

Quebec wasted no time regaining the lead in the bottom of the fifth.

White hit a sacrifice fly to score Nick Van Stratten and gave the Capitales its second one run lead of the ball game, 2-1.

Wendell Floranus was fantastic in his second start as a Capitale.

Floranus fanned six over six innings of work while allowing one earned run on five hits, picking up his first victory of the season.

New Jersey's seven through nine hitters went a combined 0 for 9 as they dropped their 39th game of the season.

Game two is on August 4 at 6:05 as New Jersey looks to even the series.
