New Hampshire Blasts Sussex, 8-1

AUGUSTA, N.J. - Edward Ovalle was 2-for-5 with four RBI and a run scored to lead New Hampshire to an 8-1 win over Sussex on Wednesday afternoon at Skylands Park. Ovalle cracked an RBI-double as part of a four run-fourth, and blasted a three run-home run in the fifth to spark the American Defenders.

Chris Kelly was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI, including a solo homer in the ninth for New Hampshire.

New Hampshire received outstanding pitching from starter Nick Asselin, who gave up one run on eight hits over seven innings. Asselin walked one and struck out eight. Roger Lincoln was saddled with the loss, after giving up seven runs on nine hits in five innings.

Sussex's Maikel Jova became the franchise leader in RBI's when his first inning single drove in Jorge Moreno all the way from first. Jova's 61st RBI topped Matt Weston's record of 60, which was set during the 2008 season.

Sussex and New Hampshire return to Skylands Park on Thursday for a 7:05 p.m. game.
