
New England Revolution Re-Sign Midfielder Tommy McNamara

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution have re-signed midfielder Tommy McNamara as a free agent ahead of the 2021 MLS season.
McNamara, 29, returns for his second season in New England and his eighth in MLS. For his MLS career, McNamara has made 143 appearances and 100 starts, with 16 goals and 19 assists. He has also played in five MLS Cup Playoff games - including all four of the Revolution's postseason games last season.
The West Nyack, N.Y. native made 14 appearances and 11 starts for the Revolution in 2020 after joining the team in an August trade with Houston Dynamo FC. He recorded two assists with the Revolution in the regular season before playing in all four of the club's MLS Cup Playoff contests, including one start in the Play-In Round win against Montreal.
McNamara began his career with Chivas USA as the 20th-overall pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft. The following year, McNamara landed with New York City FC, where he tallied 13 goals and 14 assists from 2015-18. He enjoyed a career season in 2016, setting personal bests with 28 starts, five goals, and nine assists. Following the 2018 campaign, McNamara was selected by Houston in the second round of the MLS Re-Entry Draft. He went on to appear in 43 games across all competitions with Houston. In his one full campaign with the Dynamo in 2019, he set a personal best with 33 games played, including 15 starts, and scored two goals with three assists.
