New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, MA. - With the New England Revolution hosting their 2016 regular season home opener vs. D.C. United on March 12 (3 p.m. kick), club and Gillette Stadium officials want to make fans aware of the stadium's clear bag policy and will be utilizing metal detectors to screen patrons at all stadium gate entrances, which will be in effect for all Revolution matches in 2016.
The Revolution and Gillette Stadium implemented the clear bag policy and metal detector screenings to ensure the safety of its patrons and make it easier for fans to gain access to the stadium on event day. Fans arriving for Revolution matches at Gillette Stadium gates, plaza areas, or other areas where fans queue for entry into the stadium must have bags that are in compliance with the clear bag policy. Bags that are not in compliance will not be stored and must be returned to the patron's vehicle. A description of the style and size of the bags that will be allowed is described below:
- Bags that are clear (see through) plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12."
- One-gallon clear (see through) plastic freezer bag or similar.
- Small clutch bags, not to exceed 8" x 5" x 2" (approximately the size of a hand), with or without a handle or strap, may be carried into the stadium along with one of the clear bag options.
Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: purses larger than a small clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, diaper bags, non-approved seat cushions (including large traditional seat cushions that have pockets, zippers, compartments or covers), luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.
Prior to reaching the metal detectors for screening at all stadium gates, fans are asked to remove phones and cameras from their pockets to expedite the screening process. Unlike procedures fans may be familiar with at the airport, stadium security will not ask fans to remove loose change or keys from their pockets and they won't need to remove their shoes or belts.
Fans are able to continue to enjoy their tailgate activities in the parking lots and can do so with greater safety and the expectation that their entry into the stadium will be smoother and faster. Fans will also continue to be able to carry items allowed into the stadium, such as binoculars, cameras, smart phones, jackets, blankets and strollers. Please note, battery-powered heated clothing (i.e. jackets and socks) are prohibited.
Working personnel, including media, will continue to enter Gillette Stadium through designated gates where they will be subject to screening and bags inspections.
