New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution host CF Montréal on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff available to watch on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV appin English, Spanish, and French. Callum Williams and Calen Carr will have the call in English, with Diego Pesolano and Daniel Chapela providing Spanish commentary, and Frederic Lord and Vincent Destouches calling the match in French. Saturday's match can also be heard on the radio on 98.5 The Sports Hub HD2, with Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies calling the action, and on 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA in Portuguese. The Sports Hub's local radio call can also be selected as an audio feed on MLS Season Pass.
The Revolution are set to meet CF Montréal for the 30th time in regular season play as they lead the all-time series, 14-12-3. After a recent run of dominance that saw six consecutive wins for the Revolution, Montréal struck back in 2022 and served New England two losses to sweep the season series. Montréal is in need of a spark as they have tallied only three points in five games to open their first season under new Head Coach Hernán Losada, falling 5-0 to Vancouver Whitecaps FC last week. Revolution striker Gustavo Bou, who has scored twice in four appearances in 2023, owns five goals and two assists over seven career games played against Saturday's visitors. Forward Jozy Altidore, who has made two straight substitute appearances, has scored a team-high nine goals against Montréal.
New England enters Matchday 7 following a 1-1 draw with New York City FC last Saturday at Gillette Stadium, bringing the team's home record to 2-0-1. Midfielder Carles Gil netted his first goal of the season with a left-footed strike from distance to open his 2023 account. The Spanish midfielder, who earned a bench spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday, converted on forward Bobby Wood's second assist of 2023. Gil, who is on track to reach 100th MLS start by the end of April, led New England's attack with five shots on Saturday. As a unit, the Revolution attack has featured seven different goal scorers and ranks among the top MLS teams in goals (T-7th - 8) and assists (T-6th - 9).
Through 270 minutes played at home, New England's defense has remained resolute with only one goal conceded Gillette Stadium in three games - New York City's late equalizer last weekend. Goalkeeper Djordje Petrović, who has helped the Revolution to clean sheets in two of three home games, is set to eclipse 2,500 MLS minutes played this weekend. He leads MLS with 27 saves while his three clean sheets are tied for second most league-wide.
The Revolution hope to see two influential midfielders return to action to reinforce the center of the pitch. Matt Polster missed last week's match with an illness while Latif Blessing has been sidelined for two weeks due to a leg injury, though both players returned to training this week. Jack Panayotou, an 18-year-old Homegrown product from Massachusetts, helped fill their absence the last two weeks with his first two MLS starts.
