New England Revolution News Release

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Having defeated a pair Mexican opponents in the first two games of Group B action in SuperLiga 2008, the New England Revolution will now head to Southern California to close out group play against a more familiar foe, as the Revs will visit MLS side Chivas USA on Sunday, July 20, in a match that is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) at Cal State Fullerton's Titan Stadium. The game will be televised nationally in Spanish on Telefutura, while streaming video of the match will be available in both English and Spanish on mlsnet.com and superliga2008.com. ESPN Deportes Radio will carry the game nationally in Spanish, while local listeners can tune in to the WEEI Radio Network for English audio.

The Revs (2-0-0, 6 pts. in SuperLiga) sit alone atop Group B entering the final match day and can clinch a spot in the semifinal round through a number of different scenarios. A win or a draw on Sunday would assure the Revolution first place in the group, while a Pachuca loss to Santos Laguna in the group's other game would also secure New England's passage to the next round. Even if the Revs lose to Chivas USA and Pachuca defeats Santos, the possibility still exists that the Revolution could advance to the competition's final four, because in that case, New England, Chivas USA and Pachuca would all be tied atop the group with six points. If that happens, the group would be decided on goal difference, and the Revs (+2) currently have a better goal difference than both Chivas USA (0) and Pachuca (0).

New England has put itself in prime position to advance courtesy of two 1-0 victories over traditional Mexican powers. On Sunday, July 13, the Revs used Kheli Dube's 70th minute goal to overcome Santos, while Khano Smith's penalty kick almost seven minutes into stoppage time lifted the Revolution over Pachuca on Wednesday, July 16.
