New England Revolution Academy Announces Dates of Free Regional Development Program for Youth Players in Boston

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - In partnership with the Boston Parks and Recreation Department, the New England Revolution Academy is hosting a free talent development program for youth players in the Boston area, beginning with tryouts on Saturday, January 26.

The Regional Development Program, which features training sessions run by the Academy coaching staff, is part of the fully-funded Revolution Academy's commitment to providing better access to elite training opportunities for young players in the region, while also improving the club's ability to reach, identify, and develop the top talent in the region.

The first Regional Development Program begins with tryouts on Saturday, January 26, and is open only to boys born in the 2007 and 2008 birth years. The tryouts and subsequent training sessions will be held indoors at the recently built Carter Playground domed full-sized turf field. In addition to these training sessions, the Revolution Academy will run a free coaching education session on Saturday, March 16 for local soccer coaches in the Boston area.

"Identifying talented players early in their development is a key part of the process for the Academy, and removing any financial restraints to the families allows us to train the best players in a professional environment," Academy Scouting Director Gary Hall said. "For players and families in Boston, this unique, free program in the city removes many of the barriers to elite-level training, such as transportation, program fees, and travel-related expenses."

Following this initial program, the Revolution Academy will continue to provide year-round programming in the City of Boston for players with ambitions of playing at the MLS Academy level, including future Regional Development Programs to be announced.
