Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

On Wednesday night at Suplizio Field, Tyler Nevin and Jonathan Piron hit next to each other in the Grand Junction Rockies lineup. They combined for five hits and three runs in the Rockies 3-1 win over the Great Falls Voyagers, ending a 9-game losing skid.

Piron had three hits in four at bats, while Nevin had a pair, including a home run, his second of the season, in the seventh, which tied the game at one. Piron followed Nevin's homer with a single, and after he stole second, Chris Rabago doubled him home to give the Rockies their first lead of the night. Nevin scored on a passed ball in the eighth.

Great Falls took the lead with an unearned run in the first inning, but that was all they could muster against Gavin Glanz who scattered four hits in six innings. Chad Zurat earned the win by keeping the Voyagers off the board in the seventh and eighth. Hunter Brothers tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning, sealing his third save of 2015.

The win gets the Rockies to 3-10 in the second half, and it is their first win at home since July 24.

Brannon Easterling was the hard luck loser for Great Falls. After keeping the Rockies off the board through six, he surrendered two in the seventh. Mike Gomez allowed the Rockies run in the eighth.
