
Neilson Re-signs With the Ice Pilots

Pensacola, Fla. â The Pensacola Ice Pilots, under the ownership group of Hockey Enterprises of Pensacola L.L.C. with owner Tim Kerr, announced that defenseman Corey Neilson has re-signed with the Ice Pilots for the 2004-2005 season.
Neilson, who stands 6'5" and weighs 225 pounds, played in all 72 games for the Ice Pilots last season and was the team's leading scorer with 78 points also leading the team with 59 assists while scoring 19 goals. Neilson also played in all five Kelly Cup Playoff games last year picking up three assists leading the team in the playoffs with 28 shots.
Neilson, who was named the ECHL's Defenseman of the Year last season and named First Team All-ECHL, also represented the Ice Pilots in the ECHL All-Star Game scoring a goal. He was the top scoring defenseman in the league with 78 points and also led the league with 44 power play points and 35 power play assists. The Ice Pilots had the number one power play in the league last year with Neilson playing the point.
Neilson played in 72 games for Elmira in the UHL during the 2002-2003 season scoring 10 goals, 44 assists for 54 points and picked up 136 penalty minutes and played in four games for the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL picking up two penalty minutes.
Neilson has also played for Louisiana in the ECHL including the 2000-2002 seasons when Ice Pilots Head Coach Dave Farrish was head coach of the IceGators. He has also played for Portland in the AHL, Quad City in the UHL, Timmendorf Strand EC in Germany and the Canadian National Team.
Neilson played junior hockey at North Bay, Detroit and Barrie in the OHL. He was selected by Edmonton in the third round and number 53 overall in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. He is 28 years old from Oromocto, New Brunswick and shoots right.
