Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Alaska Aces have signed ECHL all-star left winger Charles Linglet for the 2004-05 season.

Linglet placed third among ECHL rookies in scoring during the first half of the season last year with 38 points on 14 goals and 24 assists, numbers that earned him a starting spot on the Western Conference roster. After the all-star break, he was called up to the American Hockey League's Utah Grizzlies and appeared in seven games before returning to the Aces and finishing with 55 points (20g-35a). The 22-year-old Montreal native still finished third on the team and 10th among league rookies in scoring despite missing 10 of Alaska's 72 games.

"Charlie has a tremendous amount of talent, and he's really improved his level of consistency," said head coach Davis Payne. "He's also a real likable guy with a great sense of humor who fits in well with the guys in the locker room."

The 6-2, 212-pound Linglet developed a knack for coming through in the clutch over the course of the season, most notably with his overtime game-winning goal at San Diego in Game Two of the Pacific Division semi-finals, one of two he scored that night to go along with a team-high seven points (2g-5a) in the three-game sweep. He also buried an overtime game-winner at Fresno February 9 and tied for the club lead with four game-winning goals overall.

Linglet's (pronounced ling-LAY) four-year stint with Baie-Comeau in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League was highlighted by a 52-goal, 71-assist masterpiece during the 2001-02 season.

The Aces meet the Greenville Grrrowl in two preseason games at Sullivan Arena October 13-14. Alaska starts the regular season October 22-23 in Boise against the defending Kelly Cup champion Idaho Steelheads before coming back to Sullivan for the home opener October 29 against San Diego. All evening home games this year begin at 7:15 p.m., with Sundays at 5:05 p.m. KFQD 750 AM will broadcast all Alaska Aces games, with the live feed also available at www.alaskaaces.com.
