Nearly 3,000 Teddy Bears Donated to Local Organizations

Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Sask. - On the ice, the Regina Pats annual Teddy Bear Toss Night, sponsored by Global Regina, was a smashing success, with the team defeating the Calgary Hitmen 5-2, and Tanner Howe scoring the Teddy Bear goal for the second consecutive year.
But more importantly, the impact felt off the ice will be much greater, thanks to the generosity of the Regina community. A total of 2,913 stuffed toys were chucked onto the ice after Howe scored the first goal on Saturday, and now, those furry friends have been delivered to a few different locations this holiday season.
"The Pats would like to thank our amazing fans for their contributions at our Teddy Bear Toss this past Saturday," Pats CEO Gord Pritchard said. "The support you've shown will benefit many in our community and that's what this initiative is all about."
The majority of the stuffed toys were collected by the Salvation Army and will be used as holiday gifts for kids and families. Additionally, a portion of the stuffed toys went to St. John's Ambulance and Coronation Park Community School.
The last portion of the stuffed animals made their way to the pediatric wing of Regina General Hospital on Tuesday morning, after eight Pats players swung by with a special delivery for children in need of a little holiday spirit.
"It's nice we can come in and wish [the kids] a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays and do our part in the community," Pats forward Riley Ginnell said. "It's special to see some kids get excited and get a little boost of joy during some hard times.
"It's [also] special to see the parents and to touch the community is a good experience."
Any fans who missed the game are welcome to drop their stuffed toy off directly to the Salvation Army Haven of Hope, located at 2240 13th Ave in Regina.
