NEWS & NOTES:
Last Game: After grinding out a 2-1 victory on Saturdays Teddy Bear Toss Night the Wheat Kings had a quick turnaround Sunday afternoon versus the Calgary Hitmen. In a game that started out so well for the Wheat Kings, the Hitmen would quickly turn the tide and win 5-2. Hitmen forward Zac Funk led the way scoring a point off every Hitmen goal finishing the evening with 2 goals and 3 assists earning first start honours. For Wheat Kings forward Nate Danielson, his scoring streak ended at 13 games.
Dec 18th VS Winnipeg Ice: Tonight, it's the 5th meeting between the Wheat Kings and the Winnipeg Ice. Last time these clubs met was an 8-3 win for the Ice who took full advantage of an ill and beat up the Wheat Kings squad. This will be a motivated Ice team heading into this two-game stretch with the Ice having their Captain Carson Lambos return from Team Canada camp after being told he will not be playing in the Tournament even though he was a returning player to the roster. The Wheat Kings have had their close games against the number 1 team the country only losing by 1 goal on Sept 24th and Oct 29th. The other two games got away from the Wheat Kings with the Ice winning by margins 3 goals or more.
Heading to Vancouver: Nate Danielson & Carson Bjarnason were named to the Kubota CHL/NHL Top Prospects game earlier this week.
Who's Hot: Forward Nate Danielson has been stellar as of late scoring 22 points in his last 14 games. Nolan Ritchie has 12 points in his last 9 games. Calder Anderson has 12 points in his last 10 games. Brett Hyland is on a 6-game goal scoring streak.
