North Carolina Courage News Release
CARY, N.C. - The North Carolina Courage and Angel City FC played to a scoreless draw Saturday night at WakeMed Soccer Park. The Courage pushed their unbeaten streak to four straight matches, participating in their first scoreless draw of 2023.
The Courage had plenty of chances, racking up 12 shots, including three on target and one off of woodwork. The best chance came early in the second half, when Kerolin Nicoli made a cutting run up the middle and laid a cheeky back heel for Narumi at the top of the box for a clean look on goal, but her shot glanced off the crossbar and into the supporters' section.
Angel City put a dangerous cross in front of goal in the waning moments of extra time, but a sprawling block by the Courage back line kept the match level through the final whistle. Ryan Williams had five clearances and four interceptions while passing at 85% on the night. Malia Berkely was 47-for-49 in successful passes (96%) and Tyler Lussi took seven shots for the Courage, single-handedly out-shooting the entire Angel City side, who had six shots for the night.
