PHOENIX'S TAYLOR GRIFFIN RE-ASSIGNED TO NBA D-LEAGUE AFFILIATE IOWA ENERGY

Phoenix Suns forward Taylor Griffin was re-assigned to the Iowa Energy, the Suns' NBA D-League affiliate, it was announced yesterday. The re-assignment is the 11th time an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate during the 2009-10 season. Originally assigned on Dec. 7, Griffin started two games for the Energy before being recalled to the Suns on Dec. 14. In those games, both Energy victories, he averaged 13.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.0 steals in 37.0 minutes, shooting 69 percent from the field. Selected in the second round (48th overall) by the Phoenix Suns in the 2009 NBA Draft, Griffin has appeared in two regular season games for the Suns this year. In the 2009 NBA preseason, Griffin played in six games, scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in 56 minutes.

PORTLAND'S PATTY MILLS ASSIGNED TO NBA D-LEAGUE AFFILIATE IDAHO STAMPEDE

Portland Trail Blazers guard Patrick Mills was assigned to the Idaho Stampede, Portland's NBA D-League affiliate, it was announced yesterday. Mills is the 10th NBA player and the 12th assignment to an NBA D-League affiliate this season. Originally selected by the Trail Blazers with the 55th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, Mills has yet to see action this season having suffered a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot during an NBA Summer League practice session July 9. He underwent surgery on July 13 and recently completed a successful rehabilitation. A two-year contributor at St. Mary's (CA), Mills twice earned First Team All-West Coast Conference. Mills averaged a team-high 14.2 points to go with 2.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 steals in 23 minutes for his native Australia at the Beijing Olympics becoming the youngest player in Australian history to compete in the Olympic Games in basketball.

Diamon Simpson (14 points and 12 rebounds) and Michael Fey (19 and 11) each posted double-doubles for Los Angeles in a win over Albuquerque.

Shane Edwards led Albuquerque with 24 points and 16 rebounds.

Ivan Harris scored 19 points and John Bryant tallied 18 points and 16 rebounds for Erie in a win over Bakersfield.

Brian Butch tallied 18 points and 12 rebounds for Bakersfield. Amara Sy led the Jam with 21 points.

All eight players who took the court for Iowa scored in double figures as the Energy outlasted Fort Wayne, 140-137. Jeff Trepagnier led the way with 34 points, while Cartier Martin added 22.

Four players topped the 20-point mark for Fort Wayne, led by 30 points from Oliver Lafayette. Jared Reiner tallied 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Rob Kurz added 22 points and 11 rebounds.
