Navarro Leads Express Past Memphis 5-4

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Oswaldo Navarro's two-out game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning sent the Round Rock Express past the Memphis Redbirds 5-4 Saturday night at The Dell Diamond. The Express (11-18) evened the four-game series 1-1 against the Redbirds (13-15) and improved to 4-8 in one-run games.

Trailing 4-3, Jason Castro's single led off the eighth and advanced to third on two groundouts before Jason Bourgeois' two-out, pinch-hit RBI single tied the game at 4-4. Pinch runner Josh Banks advanced to second after Matt Kata was hit by a pitch before Navarro came up with the winning RBI.

Express reliever Gary Majewski (2-1) was the good-luck winner, giving up three runs in top of the eighth, while striking out one and walking one. Wesley Wright allowed one run on five hits in 7.0 innings, with five strikeouts and one walks. Casey Daigle earned the save (2), scattering two hits.

Josh Kinney (1-2) earned the loss, giving up two hits and one run in 0.1 innings. Adam Ottavino pitched 7.0 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and two walks. Trey Hearne threw 1.1 perfect innings while giving up three walks; Rich Rundles allowed one run in 0.2 innings.

Navarro's two-out RBI single in the bottom of the third opened the scoring, bringing in Drew Meyer who had a one-out double. After a Brian Bogusevic walk, Chris Shelton delivered a two-run single to draw the score to 3-0.

Round Rock and Memphis continue their four-game series Sunday with a 2:05 p.m. CDT first pitch. Dueling right-handers will face off as the Express will send Josh Banks (2-3, 3.22) to the mound, and the Redbirds counter with Brandon Dickson (2-1, 3.06).
