Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release

MIDLAND, Texas - For the second consecutive night, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals found a way to tie the game in the late innings. Naturals' right-fielder, Orlando Calixte, slugged his first home run of the season over the right-field wall in the top of the 6th to tie the game at 3-3. But the Midland RockHounds responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the 7th and held on a 4-3 defeat of the Naturals on Monday night at Security Bank Ballpark.

Northwest Arkansas (3-8) fell behind 3-0 after the 'Hounds plated one in the first and two more in the bottom of the fourth off Naturals' starter, Alec Mills. But with two on and one out in the top of the fifth, second baseman, Ramon Torres, put a single over the leap of Ryon Healy at first base and plated Frank Schwindel from second base to get the Naturals on the board, trailing 3-1.

With two down in the same inning, Carlos Garcia on third base and Torres at first, Torres left first base early and drew a pick-off throw from right-hander, Chris Jensen to ignite a run-down. While Torres danced between first and second base, Garcia took off for home, drew a poor throw from Healy and scored, making it a 3-2 game.

In the seventh inning, Yender Caramo (0-1, 0.90) gave up an RBI single to Jaycob Brugman, which proved to be the difference in the game.

Naturals' starter, Mills, turned in his second quality start of the season going 6.0 innings, allowing three runs on five hits with three strikeouts.

Schwindel and Mauricio Ramos led the offense with two hits each.

Northwest Arkansas looks to salvage the final game of the six-game road trip, as left-hander Matt Strahm (0-1, 3.48) gets the ball for the Naturals against right-hander, Raul Alcantara (0-1, 4.00) for Midland (6-5).

First pitch from Security Bank Ballpark is slated for 11:00 a.m. with Voice of the Naturals, Benjamin Kelly, opening up the airwaves with a 10:45 Indigo Sky Casino Pregame Show leading up to first pitch.
