FRISCO, TEXAS (April 18, 2016) - Lewis Brinson hit his first home run of the year, and the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, knocked off the visiting Arkansas Travelers, 5-2, in game one of a doubleheader Monday evening at Dr Pepper Ballpark.

The Rangers no. 2 prospect gave the RoughRiders (9-1) their first three runs of the game, launching a 1-1 pitch from starter Blayne Weller (0-2) over the left field wall in the bottom of the third. It was Brinson's 62nd career home run and his seventh in a Riders uniform.

Arkansas (3-7) took an early 1-0 lead on a solo home run from Sherman Johnson in the top of the first inning against Frisco starter Victor Payano (1-1). After the rough sequence early on, Payano retired 12 straight hitters to keep the Travs quiet and pick up his first victory of the year. He fell just one out shy of a complete game, working 6 2/3 innings and allowing just three hits, two runs (one earned), with three walks and five strikeouts.

Zach Cone's two-run triple in the bottom of the sixth provided the Riders some insurance to brace for a late rally by Arkansas in the seventh inning, before Adam Parks came in and shut down the rally, to pick up the save.

The RoughRiders continue to lead all of Minor League Baseball in win percentage, advancing to 9-1 (.900) with the win in the first part of the doubleheader. Game two of the doubleheader began at 7:49 p.m. Frisco is starting right-hander Jose Leclerc against Travelers righty Kyle McGowin. Live coverage can be heard on the Frisco RoughRiders Radio Network, on the TuneIn Radio App, and the MiLB First Pitch App.
