
Nationals Shut out Woodies

The Woodies fell in game five of the series, where a pitching duel commenced early in the game leading to five scoreless innings from both sides. The Nationals finally broke the tie in the sixth, putting up one on an RBI single by Steven Williams that scored J.T. Arruda. The Nationals put up two more in the eighth scoring Arruda again on a Williams single and Branden Boissiere turned around a pitch for a double to deep center that scored Williams from first.
Josh Stephan, the starter for the Woodies pitched a good game, going 6.0 innings with 7 strikeouts and one earned run, as the offense for the Woodies had five hits but could not put them together in bunches.
The Wood Ducks (49-51) and Fredericksburg Nationals (57-43) continue their series tomorrow, on Sunday, August 7th, with the Nationals up 3-2, as the first pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. in Kinston, NC at Grainger Stadium.
