TODAYS GAME- The Washington Nationals lost to the St Louis Cardinals today 9-7. The Nats are 3-2 in Grapefruit League action and will host Detroit tomorrow in Viera, Florida.
ROSTER MOVES - DC made their first major roster moves of Spring Training on Monday, reassigning 11 players to their minor league camp. The reassigned players were: Right-handed pitchers Seth Greisinger, Chad Durbin, Luis Pineda and Josh Karp; left-handed pitchers Micah Bowie and Bill Bray; catcher Drew McMillan; infielders Rick Short and Jared Sandberg; outfielder Brandon Watson; and infielder-outfielder Phil Hiatt. The roster moves trimmed the Nationals' spring roster from 60 players to 49.
ZEPHYR NOTES - Pitchers and catchers reported to Zephyr Spring Training at the Nationals complex on Sunday. Position players will report on Thursday. The Z's first spring game will be played on March 18th against the Richmond Braves in Melbourne, Florida.
COLLEGE BASEBALL AT ZEPHYR FIELD - The top ranked Tulane Greenwave will host #3 Cal-State Fullerton on Saturday at 2 PM.
OPENING DAY - The Zephyrs will open the regular season on April 7th in Nashville. The home opener will be Friday April 15th at Zephyr Field. Fans can listen to all of the games on AM 690 WTIX.
ACADEMIC PEP-RALLY - For the sixth-straight year, Zephyr Field will host an academic pep rally for 10,000 Jefferson Parish public school children on Thursday, March 10th beginning at 10:15 AM. The purpose is to get the kids motivated and ready for their LEAP tests.
