Kinston Indians News Release

The Potomac Nationals erased a 7-0 deficit, coming back to beat Kinston 8-7 in eleven innings Saturday night in Woodbridge, Virginia. The K-Tribe carried a 7-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning before the game fell apart. Four singles, an error and a dropped ball in foul territory started the K-Tribe collapse in the bottom of the seventh. Potomac batted around and cut the Kinston lead to two. Kinston still led 7-5 in the bottom of the eighth, when Marvin Lowrance reached on an error by K-Tribe pitcher Luis Perdomo to lead off the inning. Edgardo Baez walked one batter later to put runners on first and second. Perdomo got the next two batters out on infield pop-ups, but a wild pitch advanced Lowrance and Baez to second and third. Perdomo coaxed a fly ball to center off the bat of Devin Ivany, but an error by Kinston's Cirilo Cumberbatch led to Lowrance and Baez scoring. Tied at six in the bottom of the eleventh inning, singles by Seth Bynum and Ofilio Castro set the stage for a bloop single by Chris Marrero, just getting over the K-Tribe infield and sending Potomac to the walk off win.

Neil Wagner (0-1) is saddled with the loss for the K-Tribe, giving up three hits in the bottom of the eleventh inning. Luis Perdomo pitched three innings of no hit ball for Kinston, giving up two walks and two unearned runs. Erik Stiller pitched an inning of relief, giving up four hits and three earned runs. Steven Wright made a great start for the K-Tribe, giving up just four hits and one run in six innings of work. Wright struck out eight.

The loss is Kinston's (1-4) third one run loss of the season. Four of Kinston first five games have been decided by one run and two have been decided in extra innings. The K-Tribe gets back at it on Sunday with an early 1:05 start time. Hector Rondon will be on the hill for the K-Tribe.
