National Lacrosse League Announces 2005 Schedule

October 8, 2004 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release

The National Lacrosse League has announced its 2005 regular season schedule. The regular season will begin on New Year's Day, January 1st, 2005. The season kicks off on January 1 with a pair of games. The expansion Minnesota NLL team will travel to Rochester to face the Rochester Knighthawks at 7:35pm Eastern. Later that evening, the Colorado Mammoth host the 2004 Champion's Cup winning Calgary Roughnecks in what has become the biggest rivalry of the West Division. Game time is 7pm Mountain.

The regular season schedule consists of 88 games, to be played over sixteen weekends. The regular season begins on January 1st and concludes on April 17th, with the Champion's Cup Playoffs to follow. The 2005 NLL All-Star Game will be played in Calgary on Sunday, February 27th.

Each of the league's eleven teams will play sixteen regular season games. The five teams of the East Division (Buffalo, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Rochester and Toronto) will play each other three times, accounting for twelve of their sixteen regular season games. The other four games will be against teams from the West Division. The six teams of the West Division (Anaheim, Arizona, Calgary, Colorado, San Jose and Vancouver) will play each other at least twice during the regular season.

In line with last year's schedule, the Toronto Rock can look forward to another grueling year. The Knighthawks will travel to Toronto twice, while the Wings and Bandits will travel here only once in 2005. The Calgary Roughnecks and Vancouver Ravens will also each make a stop in Toronto in February and March respectively. The Rock will open their at-home schedule on January 15, 2005 at 7:30pm vs. the yet-to-be named Minnesota expansion team.
