2005 Philadelphia Wings Schedule Announced

The Philadelphia Wings indoor lacrosse team opens their 16-game National Lacrosse League season on Friday, January 7, on the road against the Arizona Sting at the Glendale Arena. The Wings open the home portion of their 2005 campaign at the Wachovia Center on Saturday, January 22 against the Toronto Rock.

The new Minnesota NLL franchise will join the Wings in the East Division along with the Buffalo Bandits, Rochester Knighthawks, and Toronto Rock. The West Division will remain the same this season and include the Anaheim Storm, the Arizona Sting, the Calgary Roughnecks, the Colorado Mammoth, and the Vancouver Ravens. The Wings will play each divisional opponent three times during the regular season with the remaining four games will be scheduled against opponents from the West.

The Wings eight-game home schedule includes games against the Toronto Rock on Saturday, January 22; the Buffalo Bandits on Friday, January 28; the San Jose Stealth on Saturday, February 5; the Rochester Knighthawks on Saturday, February 18; Minnesota on Saturday, March 5; Rochester on Saturday, March 12; the Colorado Mammoth on Friday, March 18, and Toronto on Saturday, April 9. All Friday games begin at 7:30 p.m. and all Saturday games begin at 8 p.m.

"The rivalries in the East Division continue to get stronger each season," said Wings Owner and President Russ Cline. "Combined with a visit from our cross-divisional rival Colorado, our home schedule will bring some exciting and tough indoor lacrosse games to the Wachovia Center this season."

Highlighting the Wings 19th franchise season is the return of the Wings leading goal scorer Jeff Ratcliffe and 2004 All-Rookie Team members Ryan Ward and Thomas Hajek. Dallas Eliuk , the most decorated goaltender in professional lacrosse history, will return for his 15th season between the pipes and continues his streak as the longest-playing current professional athlete in Philadelphia.

The Wings take flight when they open their 2005 home season on Saturday, January 22 vs. the Toronto Rock at the Wachovia Center.
