Portland Winterhawks News Release

Portland, Ore. - The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club is proud to recognize forward Nate Danielson, who was today reassigned to the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL) by the Detroit Red Wings (NHL). Danielson joins the Griffins as they compete in the Central Division Finals of the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Danielson, 19, recorded 41 points (12G, 29A) in 28 regular-season games after joining the Winterhawks via trade on Jan. 10 and totaled 24 goals, 43 assists and 67 points in 54 games with both Brandon and Portland this year. The 2023 first-round NHL Draft pick led the Winterhawks in scoring during the 2024 WHL Playoffs with 24 points (7G, 17A) in 18 games, including two goals and an assist in four WHL Championship games.

The Griffins currently hold a 1-0 lead in their best-of-five Central Division Finals series against the Milwaukee Admirals. Should the Griffins dispatch the Admirals, they will advance to take on the winner of the Coachella Valley/Ontario series in the Western Conference Final.
