May 5, 2025 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Nashville SC News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Nashville Soccer Club makes its return to the 110-year-old U.S Open Cup when it hosts USL League One and fellow Tennessee side Chattanooga Red Wolves SC at GEODIS Park in the Round of 32 on Tuesday, May 6 at 7 p.m. CT. Tickets for the match are available at NashvilleSC.com.
Here are five things to know for the match, available on Paramount+.
Tuesday night's match marks the first appearance in the U.S. Open Cup (USOC) for Nashville SC (4W-1L-1D since joining Major League Soccer) since it reached the Round of 16 in 2023. In 2022, the Boys in Gold advanced to the tournament's Quarterfinal Round following a two-year pause in the competition due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Nashville did not compete in the 2024 edition as a result of its participation in the Concacaf Champions Cup and Leagues Cup.
Chattanooga, which is 1W-1L-3D in USL League One play this season, reached the Open Cup Round of 32 by defeating United Premier Soccer League side New Jersey Alliance FC 4-2 on penalties in round one, MLS NEXT Pro side Chattanooga FC 5-4 on penalties in round two, and USL Championship side Las Vegas Lights 4-3 on penalties in round three.
Since joining MLS in 2020, Nashville SC defenders Jack Maher and Taylor Washington and midfielder Alex Muyl lead current Boys in Gold in Open Cup appearances with six. Midfielder Hany Mukhtar leads the team in Cup goals with three.
If Nashville SC defeats the Red Wolves and advances to the Open Cup Round of 16, the Boys in Gold will visit the winner of the Orlando City SC and Tampa Bay Rowdies Round of 32 match being played on Wednesday, May 7 on either May 20 or 21.
Nashville SC's USOC opener Tuesday night continues a stretch of at least eight matches in 28 days that began May 3 at Atlanta United FC and concludes May 31 at GEODIS Park vs. New York City FC.
