SAN DIEGO - San Diego FC (SDFC) winger Hirving "Chucky" Lozano was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob Ultra for Matchday 11 of the 2025 MLS season.

Lozano scored two goals and added two assists as SDFC produced their largest win in club history, defeating FC Dallas at home, 5-0 (Watch Highlights From His Performance Here). After scoring a brace in the first half, Lozano became the fifth player in MLS history to produce at least four goals and four assists in his first eight games with an expansion club during their debut season. Later in the match, Lozano continued to add to his accolades as just the fourth player in MLS history to accumulate two goals and two assists in a single match for an expansion team in their inaugural season. The most recent to do so was Carlos Vela for LAFC (October 12, 2018).

The Mexican National Team winger leads the club with 10 goal contributions (four goals, six assists) in just under 550 minutes across eight matches, followed by Anders Dreyer with nine (four goals and five assists). With the victory, San Diego climbed to fourth in the Western Conference (17 points, 5-4-2) and currently owns the second-best goal differential in the conference at plus-six.

Lozano opened the scoring in the 20th minute from the penalty spot before doubling the advantage seven minutes later when he cut behind the Dallas defense, rounded the goalkeeper, and slotted his finish into an empty net. Lozano then turned provider in the second half, finding Dreyer on the counterattack in the 56th minute as the Danish forward one-timed a curling finish, which nestled in the side netting for a 3-0 advantage. San Diego made it 4-0 in the 73rd minute with Lozano connecting with Dreyer once again, who unselfishly played in Onni Valakari for the club's fourth goal of the night en route to the victory.

Lozano joins Dreyer (Matchday 1) as the second SDFC player to be named Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob Ultra. San Diego is the third expansion club in MLS history - Seattle Sounders FC (2009) and Houston Dynamo FC (2006) - to have multiple players earn MLS Player of the Matchday honors within the first 11 matchdays. Lozano is also the first Mexican player to win the award since Alan Pulido on Matchday 18 of 2023.

San Diego will look to continue their ascent up the Western Conference on Saturday, May 10 when they travel to face St. Louis CITY SC at Energizer Park (5:30 p.m. PT, MLS Season Pass).

The MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob Ultra is selected each matchday of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while an Instagram fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio, and online media.
