Nashville SC News Release
NASHVILLE - Nashville Soccer Club announced today it has signed Honduras World Cup veteran Brayan Beckeles to a Major League Soccer contract, pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa. Beckeles is a Green Card holder and therefore will not occupy an International Roster Slot.
"Brayan has been a standout at the domestic and international levels," said Nashville SC General Manager Mike Jacobs. "His ability to defend at a high level in Liga MX, as well as throughout CONCACAF representing Honduras, makes him someone who would slot in nicely into our back line."
Beckeles, who currently plays as a defender with Club Olimpia Deportivo in Honduras' First Division, can comfortably play right and center back and is often utilized in either position. An efficient tackler with a determined, defensive mindset, he has accumulated over 250 career appearances competing in his home country as well as in Portugal's First Division and Mexico's Liga MX.
The full-back made his professional debut in 2006 with his hometown club C.D.S. Vida where he became the captain and stayed until 2011, leaving to join Honduras' most successful club team, C.D. Olimpia. In 2014 he moved across to Portugal where he signed with Boavista Porto FC and logged 27 appearances over a single season. Beckeles' success in Europe led him to Club Necaxa in 2015, where he helped the club raise to Liga MX a year later and win the Copa MX and Supercopa MX in 2018.
Internationally, Beckeles has made 65 appearances for Honduras' National Team after earning his first cap on Sep. 7, 2010. He was instrumental in helping his country qualify to the 2014 FIFA World Cup and competed in all three matches the squad played. His most recent participation with the Catrachos came this past June, picking up two caps during the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
