Nashville SC News Release
In conjunction with MLS WORKS and the Cumberland River Compact, the Road to Opening Match Day of Service will plant 100 trees alongside the Cumberland River
With the landmark 25th Season of Major League Soccer on the horizon, Nashville SC will partner with MLS WORKS, the League's social responsibility platform, to leave a legacy in Music City as part of the League's opening weekend and in celebration of Nashville's SC's inaugural match. Nashville SC will make their on-field debut against Atlanta United on Saturday, Feb. 29 on FOX.
In conjunction with the Cumberland River Compact, one of Nashville's leading nonprofit organizations supporting environmental sustainability, MLS WORKS & Nashville SC will embark on the Road to the Opening Match Day of Service. The service activity will provide members of the community, including supporters from both Nashville SC and Atlanta United, the opportunity to kickoff the season by planting 100 trees on Davidson Road (alongside the Cumberland River, just east of Nissan Stadium) to help capture stormwater and improve the urban tree canopy.
The Day of Service is part of MLS WORKS Greener Goals initiative and the League's commitment to address its greenhouse gas (GHG) footprint and raise awareness about environmental issues throughout the soccer community. The collaboration also showcases Nashville SC's commitment to supporting local sustainability efforts throughout the Nashville region, including Root Nashville, an effort to plant 500,000 trees in Middle Tennessee by year 2050. All Nashvillians are welcome to join Nashville SC and Atlanta United FC supporters for a morning of music, fun and community service. To learn more, visit https://www.nashvillesc.com/kickoff.
