LA Galaxy News Release
LOS ANGELES - The LA Galaxy announced today that the club has signed forward Gordon Wild. Wild, 24, was originally selected by Atlanta United in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft before signing with D.C. United last year.
"Gordon is an attacking player who will add depth to our squad in multiple positions," said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese. "We believe he has his best years of soccer ahead of him and can grow as a player in MLS. We are pleased to add Gordon to our roster."
In his first season as a professional, Wild featured for the Charleston Battery on a season-long loan from Atlanta United FC following the 2018 SuperDraft. He made 33 appearances, 20 of which were starts, and logged 1,846 minutes in his first season. The German striker scored seven goals and added three assists in 2018.
Last year, Wild signed with D.C. United before going on to make 16 appearances for Loudoun United FC in the USL Championship on loan.
Wild spent two seasons at the University of Maryland, where he scored 22 goals and earned a spot on the preseason MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List, Big Ten Conference Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-Big Ten and the Big Ten Tournament's Most Valuable Offensive Player.
The five-time MLS Cup champion LA Galaxy's 2020 home opener is set for Saturday, March 7 at Dignity Health Sports Park against Vancouver Whitecaps FC at 7 p.m. PT.
