
Nantel Leads Grizzlies to 4-1 Wednesday Win

West Valley City, Utah - Julien Nantel scored 2 goals and 1 assist to lead the Utah Grizzlies to a 4-1 victory over the Idaho Steelheads at Maverik Center on Wednesday night.
With the Utah win, they are now tied for first place in the Mountain Division with Idaho as both teams have 61 standings points on the year.
Nantel gave Utah a 1-0 lead 2:09 into the game. Idaho tied things up 16:45 into the first as Kyle Schempp scored his 8th of the season and 4th against Utah.
The only goal scored in the second period was Nantel's 2nd of the night as he scored on the power play on a nice pass from Ryan Walters. Josh Dickinson picked up assists in each of Utah's first 2 goals of the game.
Third period goals from Mike Economos and Ryan Walters provided insurance for the Grizzlies, who have won 28 games, which match the season win total from last year.
Utah went 2 for 6 on the power play tonight. They are 13 for 31 on the power play the last 8 games. The penalty kill was a perfect 6 for 6. Utah is now 25 for 26 on the PK the last 7 games.
Kevin Carr stopped 19 of 20 shots for the Grizzlies in the win. Carr's record goes to 15-5-2 on the year. Tomas Sholl stopped 24 of 28 shots for the Steelheads, who's record falls to 29-15-1-2 on the year.
The 3 game series continues with game 2 on Friday night at Maverik Center. 7 pm face-off and the game can be heard on Classic Country AM 1370 and in HD at 104.3 FM HD-2.
