Nailers to Honor Wheeling Jesuit Volleyball National Champions

WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, are pleased to announce an additional promotion for Friday night's game, as part of Wheeling Jesuit Volleyball National Championship Week.
On Saturday, December 12th, the Wheeling Jesuit University Cardinals Volleyball Team took home its first ever NCAA National Championship, defeating Palm Beach Atlantic University, three sets to none in Tampa, Florida. The victory capped off a three-match run in which the Cardinals won nine of ten sets played to take home the ultimate prize. Wheeling Jesuit University compiled a 39-4 record during the 2015 season, as well as a perfect 20-0 mark inside Alma Grace McDonough Center.
Championships have been won by teams and schools in the Ohio Valley with great frequency during the 2015-16 season, as the Nailers hosted a High School Night of Champions back on December 27th. The City of Wheeling and the Nailers are very proud of the accomplishments of the local teams, and are rooting for more championships to come this way.
The National Champion Wheeling Jesuit University Cardinals will be honored during intermission on Friday night, when the Wheeling Nailers play host to the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:35. That event will put the wraps on a week which has also featured a "Meet the Team," a special dinner, and a trophy presentation during Thursday night's basketball doubleheader against West Liberty University.
