ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Four players, a radio broadcaster and a fish-throwing fan highlight the Alaska Aces 2016 Hall of Fame class.

Former Anchorage Ace Paul Williams, former Alaska Aces Matt Shasby, Peter Metcalf and Barrett Heisten, former radio broadcaster Jack Michaels and superfan Ron Tomblinson will be inducted into the Aces Hall of Fame the second weekend of February during the

Aces games vs. Allen at the Sullivan Arena.

Aces Managing Partner Terry Parks made the announcement Thursday.

"We couldn't be more pleased with the Class of 2016 as they get recognition for their outstanding contributions to the Aces organization," said Parks. "Along with our inaugural class last year, they represent the best that the WCHL and ECHL has to offer".

Selection of the inductees included input from season ticket-holder nominations.

Williams, an Anchorage native, skated for the Aces in the West Coast Hockey League for 8 seasons (1995-2003) after an outstanding college career at the University of Alaska Anchorage. He holds numerous WCHL scoring records.

Shasby, also an Anchorage native, was named to the ECHL All-Decade Team (2000-2010) and was a Kelly Cup champion with Alaska in 2006. Shasby, like Williams, had a solid 4 years at UAA before embarking on a professional career.

Metcalf played for the Aces for three seasons (2005-'06, '06-'07 and '07-'08) and was a Kelly Cup champion with the '05-'06 team.

Like Shasby, Metcalf is also a member of the ECHL All-Decade team (2000-2010).

Heisten, an Anchorage native like Williams and Shasby, played three seasons in Glacier Blue (2005-'06, '06-'07 and '07-'08). He was a member of the Kelly Cup championship team of '05-'06, and was captain of the '07-'08 team.

Michaels was the Aces Media Relations director and play by play voice for 8 seasons. Currently employed by the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, Michaels witnessed and described some of the most memorable moments in Aces history. He was twice named the ECHL's broadcaster of the year.

Tomblinson's support of the Aces reached far back into the Aces WCHL days and continues to this day. His throwing of a salmon onto the ice at the Sullivan Arena after the Aces first goal of the game was a tradition like no other in ECHL hockey.

Williams, Shasby, Metcalf, Heisten, Michaels and Tomblinson will be honored and inducted into the Alaska Aces Hall of Fame in-between periods 1 and 2 of the Aces home games against the Allen Americans Feb. 12 and 13 at the Sullivan Arena. They join members of the inaugural 2015 class; Dean Larson, Keith Street, Kimbi Daniels, Mike Scott, Bob Lester and Bobby Hill.

The Aces return home to face the Idaho Steelheads in a 3 game series starting Friday, January 22. For tickets, stop by the Aces ticket office at 15th and Gambell Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm, or go online at www.alaskaaces.com.
