Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
Wheeling, WV -- The Wheeling Nailers kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Cyclones on Sunday afternoon at the Wheeling Civic Center.
Following a scoreless first period, Wheeling's Mario Larocque would score a pair of goals to stake the Nailers to a 2-0 lead. Larocque's second goal was in dispute, as it occured during a delayed penalty which was never whistled despite the Cyclones gaining control of the puck.
Wheeling extended their lead to 3-0 when Michel Ouellet scored at 7:40 of the third period.
Cincinnati then struck for a pair of goals just 28 seconds apart to pull within a 3-2 margin. Brent Twordik and Matt Noga each scored, while Joe Cardarelli and Kevin Bergin assisted on each goal.
The Cyclones return to home ice this Tuesday to face the Johnstown Chiefs at 7:05 PM at U.S. Bank Arena.
