"We are excited about the fifteen players who opened up camp with us on Sunday. It's so nice to actually start camp with your best players on the court, many of whom had a chance to rest and recuperate after the long 'off-season' overseas," said General Manager Angela Taylor. "The intensity and competitiveness out there on the court is off the charts as each of them battle for a spot on the final roster. Yesterday was the first day in our journey to becoming a championship contender."

Tasha Humphrey is not listed on the official training camp roster because she reported to camp unable to perform.

The Washington Mystics will tip off the 2009 season on Saturday, June 6, on the road against the Connecticut Sun. Washington will host the club's home opener on Sunday, June 7, against the Atlanta Dream.
