Washington Mystics News Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Washington Mystics and Inova Blood Donor Services have joined forced to host a blood drive on Saturday, August 6 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm at Verizon Center prior to the Mystics'game against the New York Liberty. The blood drive will aim to raise awareness and resources for sickle cell anemia. Participants in the drive will receive a Crystal Langhorne bobblehead and t-shirt courtesy of Inova Blood Donor Services.

One blood donation can save up to three lives in our community. More than 200 blood and platelet donations are needed every day, year-round, by patients at the 15 hospitals served by Inova Blood Donor Services. Blood and platelets help many people, including trauma patients, surgery patients, newborn babies, cancer patients and transplant patients.

Donors can make an appointment now by calling 1-866-BLOODSAVES (1-866-256-6372) or sign up online at www.inova.org/donateblood. There is limited space available and appointments are required. The entire donation process takes approximately one hour.
